Memorial Day is upon us and with it the “unofficial start of Summer.” There is nothing quite like breaking loose for a sunny summer drive out to the country or down to the beach this time of year. But, along with songbirds and barbecues, some of the other sounds and scents of summer are jackhammers and freshly paved asphalt (we like that smell!). This time of year road crews are out everywhere and sitting in a work zone waiting for a flagger to turn the sign from STOP to SLOW can be a bit of a drag. All of us at Quick Lane at Garnet Ford ask all of our friends to pack a little patience during the summer driving season as road construction is as inevitable as traffic on I-476 on a Friday afternoon in June. If you are looking to know about PENNDOT projects in your area, they have released a handy interactive map for users to check out existing and upcoming projects alike.

Speaking of Friday afternoon traffic, this afternoon is going to be one of the busiest of the year. Whether you and the family are headed to the Jersey shore, Delaware beaches or the Poconos, you are likely in for some time spent in congestion as the great trek commences. Let’s be honest half of southeastern PA relocates for 72 hours starting at noon today. You are bound to see some speeders, a few disabled vehicles and countless folks whose attention is, well, elsewhere. Again, patience is key as everyone would prefer to already be where they are going.

As we mentioned, Monday is Memorial Day. Accordingly, our shop will be closed in observance of the holiday. We hope everyone takes time to remember the fallen men and women of our nation’s armed forces as we scramble for some extra time with family and friends over the long weekend.
