Despite what the thermometer would have us all believe, this weekend marks the unofficial end of the summer season. The kids in West Chester Area Schools and Unionville-Chadds Ford Schools are already back to the books, and Garnet Valley kids start back next week. With that, all of our schedules seem to turn on a dime. The parents of young kids inevitably stand dutifully at the bus stop with a tear in their eye, while the parents of older children revel in the in the sounds of a silent house. Whether you are off to school with the kids, off to work with the laptop or off to the store with a shopping list, the roadways in our area are all the more congested this time of year and for good reason. And while we all may be in a hurry to get to work, school, band practice or the big game, may we all be content that our districts’ school bus drivers do not share the same urgency. Theirs is an uncommon patience that we could all do right to borrow from time to time.

This is why all of us at Quick Lane at Garnet Ford would like to salute our area’s school bus drivers. We thank you for getting our children to and from school, practice and all sorts of events safely each and every day. And we urge all drivers in and around Delaware and Chester Counties to give the bus drive a brake, not only when lights are flashing (as is the law), but also as you see their buses moving through our neighborhoods.

This fall, we wish everyone a successful start to the school year and look forward to seeing everyone throughout the season at football games, fall festivals and, of course, here at the shop!
